Have you ever wanted to learn about fly fishing but didn't know where to start? Come to this free and fun program and learn what fly fishing is and how to get started! We will practice casting and get a chance to fish on the beautiful lakes at Quarry Trails Metro Park! All equipment provided. Quarry Trails Metro Park has several park entrances-
* The closest parking lot to the Lakes is off of Trabue Road. The address is 2319 Quarry Trails Dr, Columbus, OH. This is a newly opened entrance. Please follow signage and be on the lookout for construction traffic.

Join us for a 6-week long series of interactive classes designed as an introduction to backpacking, building up to an overnight trip at the end!
Attendance at all classes is NOT required - however the overnight trip will only be open to those who attend at least one class.
**Each weeks topic will have two dates to choose from in that week so participants can pick the day that works best for them to attend, you don't need to attend both dates in the week.
Week #6: Preparation, Safety, and Outdoor Ethics - The most important aspect of an enjoyable backpacking trip is planning ahead and being prepared. Everyone will play a role in planning for our upcoming trip. We'll go over many of the hazards you are likely to encounter while backpacking in Ohio and surrounding regions. Additionally, we will learn how to enjoy the outdoors while being respectful of the wildlife and others.

Rucking is a form of exercise that combines walking/hiking with weight training! Learn about the tips and tricks of this interesting and cost-effective exercise routine! The program will consist of basic introduction and history of Rucking as well as the opportunity to practice rucking on your own! We recommend that you bring your own backpack for the practice portion of the program!

Enjoy a hike at Walnut Woods on this slow-paced, stroller friendly Toddler Hike! The trail will be paved, and we will hike as far as we can within the hour. Meet at the Tall Pines Area at Walnut Woods Metro Park. 6833 Richardson Rd. Groveport.

Get ready for paddling season with this on-land course designed to teach you the basics of being on the water! We will go over water safety, proper paddle technique, and practice the basic kayak paddling strokes from shore. Meet at Arrowhead Picnic Area at Scioto Grove Metro Park.

Orienteering is an outdoor sport that mixes adventure with the serenity of nature! This program will cover the basics of orienteering, an overview of the equipment used as well as a real world orienteering practice on the trails! Meet at the Nature Center Parking Lot, equipment and instruction are free!

Join park staff for a fast paced hike through Walnut Woods Metro Park! Meet at the Tall Pines parking area at Walnut Woods Metro Park. Hike will be approx. 3 miles on a paved trail.

Enjoy the lakes from a canoe or kayak on Memorial Day!
Canoes are open to all ages with a minimum of one adult per canoe. Solo, sit-in kayaks provided, open to ages 10+. Kayaks max. weight of 275lbs.
Life jackets are provided and worn while on the water. Visitors are welcome to bring their own Type III life jacket.

Come out to the new Quarry Trails Metro Park and try out a kayak! Solo, sit in kayaks will be available with a max weight of 275 lbs, and are open to ages 10+.
